The fragance working party is established as a contact body for the fragance industry, represented by the Research Institute for Fragance Materials to obtain an informal response to scientific questions related to fragance ingredients and contact allergic reactions. Further, the purpose is to exchange information about relevant subjects.
The ESCD fragance working party has two scheduled meetings a year with industry representatives. The meeting agenda includes news from industry and news from dermatology.
A eugenol threshold protocol is under preparation as a multi centre study including American, Japanese and European clinics.
A study is ongoning to establish irritant threshold for the 26 fragance materials required to be listed as fragance ingredients in cosmetics.
A large european epidemiology study is in preparation with German, Swedish, Italian and Portugese participants.
